One of the pleasures of installing art is helping people feel at home, especially when it's the last touch on a new build. We recently helped a client settle in to a fahhhhbulous new addition to an existing home. I really enjoyed this homeowner's taste; she painted the interior in a daring pumpkin orange that made all of her artwork really pop. I've been saving up the photos because this color is definitely Halloween-ready! We started with a very large mirror that was going over her new stone fireplace. With items like this, we like to use extra-heavy-duty hangers. This one takes three nails and an optional screw, so it's perfect for weighty items like mirrors. And for super-heavy items, we also bring even heavier-duty hangers that can handle up to 250 pounds per hook, even in drywall! Be sure to let us know ahead of time if you have a large or heavy item like a mirror. We'll bring two installers for these jobs, because it's safer for the art. It's not just fireplaces that can make it tough to hang large items; deep pieces of furniture can also get in the way. We can work around your furniture if it's too heavy to move. After we hung all of the art, the homeowner added a few accessories. This orange color is incredibly luxe. It's even better in person, where it changes depending on the light. The mirror reflects something beautiful no matter what the angle, whether it's the homeowner's collection of antique globes, or a brilliant chandelier giving a halo to this silver statue. There were lots of other charming vignettes to arrange... ...and the deep color of the walls really set off their black-and-white artwork. If you have large or heavy items to hang, don't try to do it yourself. It can be dangerous to the art (and bad for your back).
