Inaugging the Blogging - Two Years in Review

It's the first week of the New Year, and we're finally kicking off our Art Installation website. 🥂

2020 and 2021 have been crazy, am I right? Of course I'm right, it's a cliché at this point. But we've learned to roll with the crazy like everyone else.

During the last two years, we've been doing a "soft launch" of our art consultancy service, testing the waters to make sure that it's something people really want and need in Asheville.

We knew there were a lot of people moving to our lovely city who enjoy art and need help installing it, but we were pleasantly surprised by how many amazing clients have called us to assist in handling their art collections.

Cheers to the New Year!
We've also gotten to admire some really amazing art. We don't always get to learn the name of the artist, so I won't be able to give credit for all of these images, but I'd like to take a moment to share some of the beautiful pieces we've hung this year.

Of course I recognize Washington and Lincoln, and is that Grant on the lower right? Sorry, when I read history, it's usually about Monet or Manet.
One of our clients was setting up his home office due to Covid and finally had a place to hang his collection of portraits of early American statesmen.

I really like the arrangement here. I would normally flip the top two pictures in the grid so that each portrait was looking toward the middle. But I love the way the white-bearded gentleman appears to gaze at the opposite wall, and draws the viewer's eye to the little portrait on the left.

In the same home, the wife asked us to hang a pair of posters over their stairwell. This can be really tricky to DIY, because it's hard to prop a ladder safely on the stairs. Definitely call us if you need help with something like this!

But even though stairwells can be tough to deal with, they're also a really striking place to hang a painting or two.

I love the way the art plays off the light fixture.
Another local collector had a whole set of "abstract" prints, which I believe are by Tom Everhart. You'll recognize them right away of course, but at first when our crew was hanging them and working with them up close, the subject matter was unrecognizable because they were so big. Compare them to the thermostat on the left to get a sense of scale.

Up close they might as well be a Jackson Pollock, and then you step back, and voila.

She had some really colorful ones, too.

We also worked with a lot of people with much broader collections. This lady had so many pretty pieces that it's hard to choose just a few to show you.
I really love the way color has been coming back into everyone's décor.

The gray-and-white look will always be classic, of course, and I know that decorating with color can be intimidating if you haven't trained your eye. But that's where we come in!

Our whole crew has developed an aesthetic understanding of where to place art. And our standard service includes walking around the home with you and helping you decide where to hang each piece. Or if you don't have time for that, or absolutely just don't know where to start, just let us know when you request your estimate so I can plan to be there as a consultant.

It's a new year - maybe it's time for a new look at home.
